Oncor's Smart Texas initiative centered around the utility's efforts to upgrade its electricity delivery infrastructure. The Smart Texas logo takes the arcs from Oncor's parent logo and creates the feeling of a new beginning.
The mobile experience center traveled throughout Oncor's service area, gaining public and stakeholder support by educating consumers about the new infrastructure. The new system would allow Oncor to react to outages quickly, exempt critical customers during planned outages, and enable consumers to understand how to lower their bills.
The center opens to include stations with informational videos, interactive kiosks, and info panels. The imagery uses sunlight as a metaphor for power and communicates the new opportunity this infrastructure offers Texas.
The exhibit's narrative centers around educating consumers about their electricity usage, and the demonstration center allows them to experience the differences in energy usage for common household appliances.
The demonstration center introduces consumers to the EcoMeter – a device available to them that shows their energy use in real time.
Interactive kiosks educated consumers about the initiative and energy use through trivia games.
